%X This paper reports on how the determination of comprehensive visual representations has been allowed by a novel approach to digital orientation and curvature estimation. The reported approach is strongly supported on solid concepts from differential geometry and can be effectively implemented by using the Fourier transform and its inverse. The developed framework allows not only multiple important representations of the image contours to be obtained, but also effectively supports multiscale operation, that is allowed through selective low-pass Gaussian filtering. The overall computational effort is proportional to O (N.Log (N)). Experimental examples are included that substantiate the potential of the described approach respectively to a real image.
